Twenty years ago I came upon this crash site hiking Saturna. I wondered what happened and who died here? On a foggy day in December 1977, a twin otter in route to Victoria nestled down in the tree tops above Narvaez Bay. Amazingly all fourteen passengers and crew in the fading light walked safely out to a cabin below. The owner, Chuck Bavis was not at home, but they walked in, phoned 911 and helped themselves to shots of brandy. Over the years plane parts have been hauled away and what remains today is a lovely study of decaying texture and colour as the forest reclaims it.
