Biography

A native of Wisconsin, Nancy Angermeyer received a Bachelor of Science in art education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Nancy has worked as an elementary and adult art teacher, art director, graphic designer, painter, photographer, carpenter, and chef.
As a painter she used photography as a tool to collage images to paint, that were surreal, large and colorful. Over the past ten years Nancy has used photography exclusively as the method to conceive her images. Her silver gelatin prints are composed of several black and white negatives layered in the darkroom and then hand painted in oil. In 2000 she began working digitally. She misses the darkroom experience and the depth and tonality of silver gelatin prints, but the flexibility and convenience of the digital darkroom works well for her lifestyle and suits her painterly imagery. Ultimately, it is the image that counts, not how one gets there.
Archival images are beautifully printed in editions of nine with an additional limited edition for larger prints. All prints use pigment inks on Hahnmuhle rag paper. She operates a studio out of her home on an island in British Columbia and takes photographic assignments in the Gulf Islands, Vancouver and Victoria. Nancy has shown at numerous venues and seeks wider representation.
